		<description>Joe, I&#039;m a little late to the party, but I&#039;ve been selling social media to small business, and the question is always how they can generate more leads. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;It&#039;s a tough sell to those who don&#039;t use technology much, but for many small business owners, the idea of social media is great, but the execution is tricky. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;There&#039;s also the problem of price.  A good consultant costs quite a bit, and if you can&#039;t justify the cost with increased profit, it makes more sense to continue using direct mail or the newspaper. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;There are ways to do it.  Social Media is helpful in generating referrals (twitter), sales leads (linkedin), and messaging target populations (facebook).  Shoot me an email, and I&#039;ll show you some of what I&#039;m doing online.</description>

You are correct in saying it impacts small businesses more because it doesn&#039;t cost very much at all to leverage the power of these networks and the Internet in general.  Small businesses can therefore reach a tremendous audience online for little to no money, something that was difficult in the past because they couldn&#039;t afford using traditional media outlets such as print, radio, and TV.  &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Large corporations with huge advertising budgets don&#039;t need to rely as much on web marketing but they are all doing so because it is the smart thing to do.  The Internet is impossible to ignore.  It has become so pervasive and touches everyone in all walks of life all around the world so they are just doing what they ought to.  Small businesses whether they be home based or not have been benefiting from all the networking that can be done on MySpace, Facebook, and many other Business related online communities to gather a customer base or to be able to attract like-minded individuals to their businesses as partners or employees.</description>
