On the Ninth Day of Business Tips Network Solutions said to me
Evaluate what worked.

Achieving your business goals is about having specific goals with deadlines, analyzing what works and what doesn’t, and regularly evaluating your progress against your goals. The biggest difference between businesses that succeed and businesses that don’t is the simple act of making it happen. Don’t linger, take action and move towards your goals. Decide what you want to achieve, and then design a plan to get there.

Where are you now?

Evaluate what worked well this year and where your small business can improve to retain customers, continue to remain as profitable, and hold on to best employees. Start by creating a list of lessons learned for past three years. Make it a part of your business objectives for the coming year and commit to revisit the strategic plan next year. Track the results of your efforts on an ongoing basis. In particular, identify which activities have been the most successful in terms of profit not just income. Review at the end of the year or plan period to see if the results matched your stated goals.

Evaluate what led to failure. Rather than jumping into something new immediately, take some time to understand what caused the failure. Find a way to implement what you’ve learned by building on the things that worked and make some changes to the things that didn’t work.

Evaluate what worked for your business and keep doing more of it, stop doing what didn’t. To quote Albert Einstein, “Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

I believe planning and writing the vision down is crucial. I agree with everything stated above and regularly review what my goals are and how I plan to get there. I have a nimble company so if things aren't going as planned, I can reevaluate and make real time changes. Sometimes they're daily.
