That is so true. Heck even Benjamin Franklin had a personal brand that made the French love him and it helped him negotiate help to the colonies during the Revolutionary War. These days we just have to put a label to everything and I think it is going to be harder to craft a broad personal brand because niche focus will be critical.

Great post!

Personal branding has always been out there, even though it has now become a better defined concept in today's job market and cyber evolution.

Therefore, personal branding is definitely no fad and will be important forever into the future. This is especially true as more and more activities use or are supported by the internet and technological interconnectivity. It will be crucial that you establish yourself across multiple channels, online and offline, no matter what social networks, blogging platforms or job search systems are present and effective at the time.

Note: Personal branding always starts with you and a combination of your values, goals, passions and strengths and this always starts offline in-person. You have to be your brand in-person in physical reality first before you establish yourself in other offline and online channels.

I think it will be important now (as well as next year and beyond). What I've learned about personal brand is that it's important to understand your core values. Then demonstrate those values in all you do and say. Your website, blog, comments, photos, digital footprint, etc. should reflect those values. Thanks for the article!
